Top hottest coaches to move to new jobs E-mail

Anthony Grant, VCU – Alabama has already asked for permission to speak with Grant. We expect to hear his name with about every major opening in the country.

Billy Donavan – Florida – Donavan’s dream job is Kentucky. Kentucky’s job could very well be open soon. It makes sense to us.

Tom Izzo – Michigan State- It seems crazy that Izzo would leave the Spartans considering he’s run that program since 1995. Will the Arizona sun tempt him? Maybe.

Sean Miller – Xavier – Miller’s name, like Grant is being thrown around all over the place. He’s got a shot at the Kentucky gig should the Wildcats make a change at the top. He’s 95-40 since taking over at Xavier since 2004.

Jeff Capel – Oklahoma – Capel is tired of coaching at a football school. The Virginia job is there for the taking here. Expect talks to happen once the Sooners get eliminated from the NCAA tournament.

Mark Few – Gonzaga – Rumors are piling up about Few and Oregon. That’s his home state. He’s been at Gonzaga since 1999 with an overall West Coast Conference record of 126-14.

Randy Bennett - St. Mary’s – Bennett got a lot of pub when his bubble team didn’t get picked for the NCAA tournament. It’s likely that he’ll stay put after his teams NIT run this year but we could see him making a move. Bennett has taken St. Mary’s to the Big Dance twice since 2001. 2008-09 was easily his best season, gong 12-2 in the West Coast Conference.

Stew Morrill - Utah State – Morrill has been the head man at Utah State since 1998 where he’s made the NCAA tournament six times. He played at Gonzaga and would be a natural there, should Few decide to leave.

Brad Stevens – Butler – The 32 year old Stevens just concluded his second full season as head coach at Butler going 26-6. He’s 56-10 in those two seasons now with two Horizon League championships.

Jamie Dixon – Pitt – This guy has a pretty decent gig in the Big East right now but we could see this California native looking to make a move west at some point in time. Dixon is 162-44 since 2003 at Pitt.

Jim Boylen – Utah – Boylen is 42-25 in two years at Utah. If for some reason Tom Izzo leaves Michigan State, consider Boylen a front-runner for that job right now. Boylen was an assistant there from 1987-1992 and also from 2005-2007.

Ken McDonald – Western Kentucky – McDonald just finished his first season as the head coach at Western Kentucky as he took the Hilltoppers into the second round. He’s a natural where he’s at right now but keep an eye on McDonald’s name over the next couple of weeks.
