Oregon top five list E-mail
Sunday, 14 March 2010
Here's a top five list on who we've heard Oregon is targeting to become their next head basketball coach. This list is in no particular order.

1 - P.J. Calesimo --- The former Seton Hall and NBA guy Carllesimo has coached in a national championship game and also has a great relationship with Oregon's women's coach, Paul Westhead, who is a former assistant of his.

2 - Steve Alford --- Expect the New Mexico coaches name to pop up a lot over the next few weeks. We're told that if the money is right, Alford would be interested in moving to the northwest.

3 - Mark Turgeon --- Texas A&M's head coach will definitely be a candidate for this job but we anticipate it will be one-sided. Why would Turgeon make this move? He's got a nice thing going on in College Station.

4 - Mark Few --- Gonzaga's head coach is probably the man who the majority of Oregon's fan base wants. But wouldn't he have done it by now? It's not like this match is just popping up for the first time this March. Still, the Zags will lose a lot at the end of this season so Few to Oregon isn't a crazy thought.

5 -Tubby Smith --- The Tubby to Oregon rumors are dominating the Midwest. Some have already crowned UNI coach Ben Jacobson as the next head man at Minnesota. This is all very possible.

Honorable mention: Ben Jacobson, Randy Bennett, Lon Kruger.
